You don't need paid apps to make beautiful artwork from your photos. Three free tools most of us already have can do it in under a minute. Below are the prompts our designers use, grouped by occasion. Copy one, add your photo, and change the words in brackets.
Which free tool should you use?
- Meta AI on WhatsApp: open any chat, tap the blue-purple circle or type @Meta AI imagine followed by your prompt. Best for quick ideas, and you're already on WhatsApp.
- Google Gemini (gemini.google.com or the app): upload your photo and ask it to restyle it. Good at keeping faces recognisable.
- ChatGPT (free plan): upload a photo and describe the style. Great for painted and illustrated looks; the free plan has a daily limit.
Tip: if the person's face matters (a parent's portrait, a memorial photo), always compare the AI version with the original. If the likeness isn't right, frame the real photo. Our designers can still enhance it.

Before you print: 4 rules
- Ask for the right shape. Add "portrait 2:3" or "landscape 3:2" to the prompt so the image matches popular frame sizes like 12x18 and 20x30. Square images suit 12x12 style layouts.
- Download the largest version. On WhatsApp, open the image and save it. Don't send a screenshot of the chat.
- Check the quality meter. Our frame designer shows Best / Good / Low for the size you pick. Bigger frames are viewed from further away, so they need fewer pixels per inch.
- Check hands and text. AI tools sometimes add extra fingers or misspell words. Zoom in before you order.
Made something you love? Frame it, or put several in a combo gallery set for a full wall.
